Ozempic® Explained
FDA Approval and Ozempic®
Ozempic® is the first injectable diabetes medication approved by the FDA. [6] Ozempic® is FDA-approved for reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke, and death in individuals with both type 2 diabetes and heart disease. [6]
Ozempic® is not FDA-approved for weight loss but is sometimes prescribed off-label if deemed appropriate by a healthcare provider. [1]
Paying for Ozempic®
The cost of Ozempic® is dependent on insurance status and plan. In many cases, medications prescribed for off-label use, like Ozempic® for weight loss, may not be covered by insurance. [7] The cost of Ozempic® is not included in the cost of Weight Care+.
