HbA1c Test
/each

The home-collection hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) test is an easy way to measure how well you have been maintaining your blood sugar levels for the past 90 days.
Measures hemoglobin sugar levels
Finger prick sample
Our HbA1c test examines your blood sugar on a three-month average
Your results can help you determine how well-controlled your blood sugar levels have been over the past 90 days and may also help your healthcare provider evaluate the effectiveness of your current treatment plan.
Glycated Hemoglobin (HbA1c)HbA1c is a measurement of the amount of glucose bound to the heme found in red blood cells. Blood glucose (commonly referred to as blood sugar) levels tested as a single measurement can vary significantly throughout the day based on many factors, including a recent meal or physical activity. An A1c test measures your average blood sugar over a span of 2-3 months. This test is used by healthcare providers to help diagnose conditions that result in too much sugar in the blood, such as diabetes, prediabetes, and gestational diabetes.
This test is a great choice for anyone who has been diagnosed with prediabetes or diabetes and needs routine monitoring and HbA1c testing.

A convenient way to get health information
So I've done an inflammatory test, men's test, food sensitivity test, and HbA1c. Learned relevant info about my health with all of them. I'm going to do the HbA1c test every 4 months or so and track how I'm doing w my number. The first test was up from the previous test I had done w/ my doctor. I di...dn't like the fact that it went up, so I changed my carb intake (except for fruit) and it went down. I'm going to track this and try to get it even lower. The food sensitivity test revealed some things that I have an immune reaction to, which I would have never known. I was highly reactive to egg whites and I was eating 5 egg whites w/ one whole egg every morning, 6 days a week for breakfast. Now I only eat eggs 1 time per week, 2 max. All of the info has been useful for making and altering what and how I eat. I don't have to go running off to my doctor every time either. The HbA1c was $35-40, which is better and more convenient than going to the doctor and paying for the copay for him as well as for the lab test.

BEWARE not testing just collect at home-need to MAIL IN test
First test I bought was unable to register and STILL am not getting any help from customer service they only reply that my results not ready. It had circles on paper to fill so if you find that in your kit DON'T draw blood- it took awhile and ended up a waste of time and money so far as they haven't... replaced it as promised when it wouldn't register) Second test ( after already 3 pokes my fingers still aer bruised ) had to poke again to fill a plastic cartridge with a tiny hole with circle ( guessing paper was inside) took a long time to fill It had an indicator arrow that the blood got to and turned red when there was enough. Took a long time to fill and it was difficult to get blood ONLY in the tiny spot which had ridges around that bumped and got some blood on there. Took about a week from when they got it until results. Have to be sure to dry the cartridge before putting in the baggie too. Didn't serve my purpose but if you want a home test to mail in and are up for several pokes and a while to fill the blood up… (am a MT(ASCP) who has done blood collection and testing for decades so I do have a frame of reference FYI) For me I will go back to the store brand I can run the test at home, and will be hopeful to somehow recoup the $$ from the non-registerable test…had to toss the wasted blood.

FAQs
You have questions, we have answers
As glucose (also referred to as blood sugar) circulates in the bloodstream, some glucose molecules stick to a protein in the body that's only present in red blood cells: hemoglobin. Hemoglobin that has glucose attached is known as glycated hemoglobin—or HbA1c. Higher blood sugar levels result in a higher amount of glycated hemoglobin.
The HbA1c test—also called a glycated hemoglobin, glycosylated hemoglobin, A1c, or hemoglobin A1c test—measures the percentage of glycated hemoglobin in the blood and is often interpreted as the average blood sugar level over the past 3 months. (This is because red blood cells typically live for about 3 months.)
Evaluating blood sugar levels with an HbA1c test is different from using a blood glucose meter (or glucometer) to measure your blood sugar level. A glucometer measures your blood glucose levels at that moment—either right before or right after a meal.
However, blood sugar levels can change quite a lot throughout the day in response to the composition of the different meals you eat and changes in physical activity. Since an HbA1c test gives a 3-month average of blood sugar levels, it can be helpful for tracking long-term changes and monitoring overall glycemic control—and is often used as part of an evaluation for diabetes, as well as in the management of diabetes and prediabetes.
If you want to check or track your average blood glucose levels to better understand your body's glycemic control, at-home HbA1c testing can be an easy, effective way to get started.
Our HbA1c blood test requires a small blood sample to measure your average blood glucose level (blood sugar) over the past 3 months.
Red blood cells have a lifespan of about 3 months but are constantly renewing within the body. Glucose attaches itself to hemoglobin, which is a protein found in red blood cells that carry oxygen throughout the body.
This HbA1c blood test provides a measure of average blood glucose levels to give you an overall look at your blood sugar level over a 3-month period. HbA1c values that fall outside the ideal range can mean a greater risk of developing diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and other health conditions.
Blood sugar levels tested as a single glucose level measurement, like with glucose tests for home monitoring, can vary significantly throughout the day based on many factors, including a recent meal or physical activity. For this reason, HbA1c testing gives a better representation of average blood sugar levels over time—and whether you have been diagnosed with diabetes or prediabetes, or are simply looking to have a better understanding of your average glucose levels, our hemoglobin A1c test kit makes it easy to get an HbA1c measurement. (Note that this test is not a replacement for regular blood glucose level monitoring.)
Symptoms of diabetes include:
Blurred vision
Feeling more thirsty than usual
Urinating more often than normal
Fatigue and hunger
Itchiness of the skin
Slow wound healing
Dryness within the mouth
Numbness or pain in the body's lower extremities
Nausea
If you are experiencing symptoms that you think may be related to diabetes, please schedule an appointment with a healthcare provider right away to follow up on next steps.
Once you receive results for your HbA1c measurement, Everlywell can provide suggestions for lifestyle changes to jumpstart a healthier lifestyle. As always, we encourage you to share your hemoglobin A1c test results with your healthcare provider, who can provide more specific guidance on lifestyle changes.
If you have diabetes or prediabetes, tracking your A1c level may help you—and your healthcare provider—assess the effectiveness of your current treatment plan. Regular HbA1c testing can also help you see how choices you make—like diet—affect your blood sugar levels. However, an HbA1c test is not the same as the glucose result you get from a blood glucometer (or “glucose meter”). This kind of glucose test determines your at-the-moment blood glucose concentration, which often swings up and down throughout the day as you eat and exercise.
How often you should test your HbA1c depends on many factors, so talk with your healthcare provider about the testing frequency that’s right for you. If you’re interested in monitoring your HbA1c levels on a regular basis, consider the Everlywell subscription option for the HbA1c test. You’ll automatically receive an HbA1c test kit on a schedule you choose (available options are monthly, quarterly, and semi-annually).
